We have been talking about our projects lately and presented them in dedicated articles. You have certainly admired the interior designs that we have created, but in fact, you have admired our work. Every photo taken of a space designed by us, every 3D design is, in the end, a reflection of our team’s professionalism. Therefore, today we will talk about how the iDecorate team operates and we will answer the most frequently asked questions.

Interior Design Project for a 3-Room Apartment
What types of services do we offer and what does each include?
We mainly offer interior design and interior furnishing services according to the wishes and needs of our clients. More precisely, we offer services for the interior design concept part (furnishing and thinking of the space in detail), concept detailing (installation plans, wall plans, ceramic tile installation stereotomy, furniture detailing), estimate (quantity calculation, materials, furniture offers or custom elements). Depending on the clients’ requirements, we can deliver only the concept part or the entire package – concept, project detailing, implementation and site monitoring.

How does the first meeting go? How should I prepare as a potential client?
The first meeting is usually online. In the first meeting we get to know each other, find out the requirements and expectations of the beneficiary and showcase the progress of the project. If this first meeting takes place before the space is measured by our team, the beneficiary provides us with the plans of the apartment/house/space that we would furnish. If the meeting with the client occurs after our team has taken the measurements and created the 2D furnishing plan, we focus specifically on discussing the furnishing plan. The clients already receive the “design theme” in advance from us, which helps establish the furnishing style together during that meeting.
What are the steps/stages of an interior design process and how does iDecorate approach a project?
The steps are simple, and the manner of approaching and carrying out the project depends on how the client chooses to communicate with us.
The first step is the offer. Based on the plans received on our email and the reference images for the design style, we send our financial proposal to our client. After the proposal is approved, the contract is signed. Once the contract is signed, we schedule a day for our colleagues to take the measurements. We measure the space, while receiving the design brief from the client.
The second step is to meet with the beneficiary to determine how the project will evolve. The 2D plan, furnishings, space limitations and the various options are discussed, as well as the references and the beneficiary’s design style/desires.
The third step is reflected by 3D simulations. Once the final furnishing option of the 2D plan is established (Phase 1 of the project), we move on to Phase 2, namely the 3D simulations. In this stage (the stage that also involves the longest working time), the chromatics, the ambiance, the furnishing style and the furniture are established. The project is handed over entirely to the beneficiary so he can see it as a whole and get an image of the final result. We never hand it over in pieces or areas of the arrangement. After handing over the 3D project, we discuss the 3D simulations with our client, and decide together if there are any chromatic or overall changes that should be considered and bring the project to the optimal version both from a functional and compositional point of view.
The completion of the 3D stage coincides with the fourth step and the beginning of Phase 3 – the furniture detailing phase. There are two options to choose from when it comes to the furniture detailing. In the 2D version, the client receives 2D drawings with overall dimensions and color codes to send the project for quotation to furniture manufacturers. Alternatively, the client can opt for the 3D version of the furniture drawings, which includes 3D renderings of the furniture pieces with internal compartmentalization and material specifications, also for obtaining supplier quotes.
After finalizing the 3D simulations, we also start working on the technical plans: ceiling plans (if light fixtures are included), finishes, plasterboard details, niches, electrical, plumbing, and heating fixture positioning plans, as well as finishing plans (in form of wallpaper or paint).
In parallel with Phase 3, Phase 4 (the budget estimate) is carried out as well, which involves the fifth step – here we send requests to the suppliers with whom we constantly work to get offers for custom-made elements: bespoke furniture, curtain and drapery fabrication and installation, finishes (tiles, parquet, paint), and sanitary fixtures. In addition to these offers, we send the beneficiary a complete, room-structured budget estimate, which includes all the objects that we used in the 3D simulations: size, color code, price, number of pieces, purchase link.
At the end of the project, if the client respects the received budget estimate and our information without changing it, the space will look exactly as in the 3D simulations agreed in Phase 2. For the recipients who want a complete package, we can add, upon request and in addition to the concept, the project implementation part (order correlation and tracking) and site monitoring (regular site visits to monitor the main phases of the project).

Do you also handle ‘turnkey’ arrangements?
Yes, our portfolio includes such projects as well. These projects contain, in addition to the concept part, the implementation and site monitoring part. We come to the client with complete service proposals and teams of builders to deliver successful “turnkey” projects.
At what stage of the project is it ideal for a potential client to get in touch with you?
If we are talking about a build from scratch, it is preferable to be contacted before the installations are carried out on site, but after the walls are placed. We have many projects in which we take over the houses right from the foundation stage, because the beneficiaries want to be certain that they have gathered all the important details from the beginning.
How long does an interior design project take?
The concept and detailing part of an interior design project usually takes, without execution, approximately 2-3 months. Execution and implementation are different stages. It is necessary to understand that this is about creation. We offer our clients unique projects, created and customized for them, and this is not an easy task that you can fulfill quickly. Also, each phase involves a period of feedback from the beneficiary, which we must take into account, as it involves an intermediate period between the design phases.
It is important that the project starts early, so that the client has enough time to think and respond.
It is also important to follow the steps for developing a design project: the interior design project (which includes the concept, technical plans, quantities, and finishes). Based on the entire project, we request bids from contractors. The contractor begins work on-site once we have the entire project (technical plans, details, and offers for finishes and sanitary facilities). Afterward, the finishes are ordered. Once the design work is completed, the installation of finishes, ceilings, and painting takes place, followed by the ordering of bespoke furniture and other items. Custom-made furniture is never ordered before the space is finished.
What should the client expect when working with you?
First of all, the beneficiary must be aware that chose us due to our experience. Our projects are backed by a team of professionals with 15 years of experience in the field and a degree in the industry. The client must be open to the idea of collaboration, to be aware that this type of project is the sum of elements that are discussed in the first place, and reach their final form after an exchange of ideas and opinions. There is no such thing as a “guessed” project from the start or a custom-made project executed in a very short amount of time.
