Christmas Decorating Ideas

The overall enthusiasm of December is due to a long series of joys, from the happiness of children, the winter holidays, the transition to a new year and to the decorations that abound throughout the city. Many have a specific budget just for decorating their home and manage to bring impressive stories to life.

We believe that there are certain principles for a design that can elevate even the most ordinary decorations from anonymity.

Go the easy way.

The holidays are about the joy of sharing. They are more about the spiritual aspects, rather than the material aspects. Choose as few decorations as possible but keep in mind that they should match each other and think only of certain places in the house where they fit perfectly. The most inspired ideas for Christmas remain wreaths, made either from fir or mistletoe branches, or from different types of wood.

Christmas wreath

Focus on setting the Christmas table

The Christmas table, along with the Christmas tree, are the key elements for a perfect celebration. The Christmas table can have accessories in colors other than the traditional ones: red or gold. You can choose graphic patterns of black and white, pale pink or blue.

Christmas arrangements

Choose decorations that are as natural as possible

The twigs or garlands can be decorated with candied citrus fruits, which will highlight a simple yet extremely chic decoration, with a fresh scent, perfect for the cold days of December.

orangs

Break the mold

We insist on the idea that a house should have personality, reflecting the desires and preferences of those who live in it. The same shall be true for holiday decorating. Find an idea that is yours and that is completely out of the ordinary, such as hanging glass globes from the chandelier in the living room.

Don’t forget about magic.

A famous saying goes that “you’re never too old to believe in magic.” Think of an object that reminds you of your grandparents’ stories and integrate it into your Christmas decor. We recommend a wooden sleigh or a lantern.

Buy natural flowers

Every time we prepare a room, we don’t forget to buy natural flowers. An inspired decor is one that integrates fresh flowers with traditional decorations.

Our work – Bathroom Design – 8 Ideas from Our Projects

The bathroom is the house’s place where you start and end your day, so you need to pay close attention to its design if you want an efficiently organized space. The bathroom allows you to be creative regarding its design, from the color palette to the furniture, finishes and sanitary ware, regardless of the size of the space. Nowadays, a bathroom represents organization, functionality, simplicity, a harmonious and well-structured space. We have prepared an article with 8 bathroom design ideas from our projects.

Compact bathroom

This bathroom is placed on the ground floor of a house in Dubai. Given its compact size, we opted for white, glossy finishes to reflect light and provide the illusion of a larger space. The walk-in shower was the ideal solution in arranging this bathroom. We chose solar yellow as a color accent, which is reflected in the rug placed in front of the sink.

Small Bathroom – Home Design Project in Dubai

Small Bathroom with Ceramic Finishes

A bathroom with ceramic finishes in beige tones, both on the floor and on the walls. Because the space is not generous enough, we opted for a walk-in shower, toilet and washbasin equipped with suspended furniture in an anthracite gray shade.

Bathroom with White Finishes and Wood-Like Textures

This bathroom was designed with white finishes and wood-like textures used for both the floor and the furniture. For the sink area, we chose a built-in and suspended storage space. The tiling in the shower area was designed to give the space a sense of depth.

Bathroom Designed in Classic Lines

A bathroom decorated in classic lines, with ceramic finishes in a light beige shade, free standing bathtub, walk-in shower and straight-lined washbasin with white furniture. The highlights of the bathroom are the mirror in the washbasin area and the wall in the shower area finished with metallic mosaic, thus providing the bathroom with a dynamic look.

Minimalist Bathroom

A simple and minimalist bathroom with ceramic finishes, but the wall in the bathtub area has wood-like finishes, which gives the bathroom a special look. The white furniture with milled handles was designed to offer maximum storage. The wooden accents on the furniture provide the space with a graphic and orderly appearance.

Bathroom with Ceramic Finishes

This bathroom features grey ceramic finishes, with the wall behind the tub adorned with striped ceramic tiles in two shades, namely grey and white, adding a touch of dynamism. We opted for white furniture with wooden accents, offering maximum storage and functionality.

Bathroom with Terrazzo Finishes

The design of this bathroom features a built-in bathtub – we opted for terrazzo for the bathtub and for the wall behind it. As for the furniture in the washbasin area, a suspended model was chosen so as to visually enlarge the space, visually enhancing the floor. Also to visually enlarge the space and for brightness as well, we selected ceramic parquet flooring and white walls.

Bathroom Designed with Wooden Accents and Ceramic Finishes

A bathroom treated neatly and simply, with special finishes. We chose ceramic tiles in gray tones for the floor and walls, adding white sanitary ware. Having to deal with a bathroom with a fairly large surface area, we also opted for generous storage spaces, made of wood.

How to Use Natural Materials in Interior Design

The house is the place where we spend most of our time, it is the place where we rest, eat, relax, invite our friends or even work. That is why it is very important that the decisions regarding your home are as practical as possible and provide solutions for a long period of time.

To ensure that the furniture and decor in your home are durable and as practical as possible, you must consider the materials you choose to decorate your house. The ones we recommend are natural materials – wood, stone, metal. We will talk about each one in the following lines.

Whether we are talking about wood, natural stone or metal, natural materials will always give your home a sophisticated air but also the feeling of a well-organized space. Moreover, natural materials integrate perfectly into the design style you choose: if you want an industrial interior, opt for metal elements, such as a bookcase, dining chairs or coffee table. If the rustic style is what you prefer, then wooden furniture is the ideal choice. You can choose walnut or oak wood, and the furniture will not only last over time but will also remain timeless in style.

Wood is probably the most used material in interior and exterior design projects: from the construction of the house or interior stairs to the furniture pieces, wood adds a noble and charming air to the environment. Wood can be incorporated into nearly any design style. It’s highly versatile, sustainable, offering a wide range of textures and colors to choose from.

Stone is the ideal choice if you want to create a modern or minimalist interior, especially if you opt for dark shades. There is a wide range of types of natural stone on the market that you can use especially for flooring, walls or kitchen countertops, coffee tables (marble, granite, basalt, ceramic) – the ideal solution if you want an interior whose appearance will withstand the passage of time.

Metal is a very versatile natural material in interior design and can be easily integrated into many project styles, from industrial and modern to traditional and minimalist. Metal is an extremely durable material, being a great support for heavy elements, which makes it ideal for various pieces of furniture, such as bookcases, beds, dining tables or chairs. Metal comes in a variety of colors – for an industrial or minimalist interior choose black metal to combine with wood, while for a modern or elegant interior, you should choose bronze variants of metal.

If so far we have talked about furniture and finishes made from natural materials, it is time to focus on textiles made from natural materials. Instead of classic curtains, choose those made of linen, opt for cotton for the bed linens, and choose wool for the blankets and rugs.

Balcony Storage – Tips and Tricks

The balcony is, for many of us, that place in the house that we want to arrange in a manner that fulfills both the functional and aesthetic aspects. We want the balcony to be a pleasant environment, a place to relax, but also a place where we can store things that we don’t use so often. To combine the useful with the pleasant, you have to organize the space you benefit from very well, regardless of whether we are talking about a small or large, closed or open balcony. And also, keep in mind the aesthetic side of the space.

We’re here to help with some tips and ideas on how to organize your balcony storage so that you can enjoy a pleasant and welcoming environment, but also a functional space for smart storage.

Open Balcony – Tips for a Successful Design

An open balcony is an easy space to arrange, but you need to take into account a few details that will help you have a beautiful balcony all year round – if during the warm season the open balcony is the ideal place to drink your coffee or relax, during the cold seasons it will be a bit more difficult to keep it clean and tidy, but also to protect the furniture you choose.
– As much as possible, avoid wooden furniture and choose materials that are resistant to moisture and adverse weather conditions. Also, avoid textiles because they will deteriorate quite quickly;

– An open balcony is the ideal place to decorate with many plants and flowers, thus creating a welcoming environment;

– Set up a relaxation corner, with armchairs and a sofa, stools and a coffee table to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner (or all 3 meals, why not?) on the balcony;

Relaxation Corner in an Open Balcony – Apartment Design Project in Dubai

– For storage, you can choose a wardrobe made of a resistant material or chests that you can decorate with flower pots or other outdoor decorations;
– To save space, choose a clothes dryer that you can fix to the wall or ceiling.

Enclosed Balcony – Ideas and Tips for Smart Design

A closed balcony offers you the opportunity to arrange it in a much more varied way than an open balcony, especially because you can choose furniture from any material. Below you will find some ideas and tips for arranging a closed balcony.
– Play with color schemes, choose cheerful colors, opt for lots of plants and arrange a place to relax with a comfortable armchair or sofa.

– The closed balcony is ideal for arranging a closet-type storage space in a corner – opt for shelves and racks to organize everything you want. A shelf in a neutral color or made of wood, to which you can tie a linen curtain in a simple color will help you arrange the storage space as organized as possible;
– In a closed balcony you can arrange a dressing room or a storage space for the clothes you don’t wear that season. For the dressing room, choose a wardrobe that matches the dimensions of the space you have. For the clothes you don’t need every day, opt for a chest of drawers and, eventually, put the clothes in vacuum bags to save space;

– The enclosed balcony is ideal for storing things that you don’t have room for in the house – vacuum cleaner, Christmas tree ornaments, etc. For these, choose a cabinet with shelves and doors – you don’t want to have all these objects on display because they will visually clutter the space.

A pleasant atmosphere at your home should also be felt in the balcony space. Get inspired by our tips and ideas and adapt them to your needs – successful balcony storage will help you create an airy and organized environment.

Our Work: Interiors in Neutral Colors from Our Projects

Neutral colors are a safe option for decorating your home, whether it’s a living room, a bedroom, or a kitchen. A neutral color scheme can be successfully used in any type of interior design, providing the perfect setting to experiment with a variety of decorative objects.

Neutral Color Scheme – Interior Design Project for a 3-Room Apartment in Dubai

Even though interior design trends change from year to year, both in style and color, neutral shades like beige, gray, white, with all their tones and undertones can stay in our homes for a long time. This is because neutral shades are modern and classic at the same time and they improve our mood, adapting to any interior design style.

Fully Designed Interior in Neutral Colors

If you like neutral colors and want a completely neutral interior, we recommend that you opt for warm cream or vanilla tones that you can combine with other tones in the same color range – butter white, beige, light gray. When we say completely neutral interior, we mean that you can choose neutral colors for walls, floors, furniture and decorations. These types of arrangements are very suitable for the living room, especially because neutral tones exude relaxation and calm. A completely neutral interior will always be simple, clean and very bright.

How to Integrate Marble into Interior Design

We often associate the use of marble with covering entire walls or floors, often in bathrooms, giving the space an opulent look. However, marble can also be used as an accent shade in a room, transforming the decor into something unique. We have prepared some ideas on how you can integrate marble into your home design.

Kitchen worktop
Resistant to shocks, scratches and water, but with a special aesthetic, marble can be successfully used in the kitchen. The marble worktop offers a special aesthetic to the kitchen, but also an extremely functional role. For strong contrasts, choose black marble, and for more brightness you can opt for white marble.

Marble Table
If you want your dining area to support the kitchen theme, you can choose a table with a marble top that can easily be integrated into almost any decor. However, you need to keep in mind that you need the table legs to be very sturdy because marble is a fairly heavy material.

Coffee Table
You can give your living room an elegant and sophisticated air with a marble coffee table. It perfectly integrates into a classic or minimalist decor and will certainly not go unnoticed by your guests.

Accent area on the floor or on the walls
Due to its diverse textures and colors, marble can be used as an accent area on the wall in the kitchen, bathroom or even in the living room if you want an industrial design. Being an extremely porous material, suitable for a room with high humidity, marble is the ideal choice for tiling the wall and floor in the shower area.

Marble Sink
In the bathroom you can consider using a marble sink. With a design that is both functional and visually striking, a marble sink fits seamlessly into a minimalist or industrial interior.

Fireplace Mantel
Although the fireplace is very often associated with rustic style, marble cladding of the fireplace frame will add romance and nobility to the room. Easy to maintain and clean, the marble-clad mantel will withstand high temperatures and will have a longer lifespan.

Tips & Tricks for Decorating Your Home for Christmas

As soon as we pass the middle of November, we start thinking about the most wonderful time of the year – Christmas – and everything that this holiday brings: decorated Christmas tree, sparkling decorations, color and magic. Nothing prepares us better for Christmas than decorations, which bring the magic of the holidays into the house. We can’t imagine Christmas without baubles or installations, that’s for sure. So let’s start prepare the house for Christmas!

Start with a general cleaning!

The most important step in decorating your home for Christmas is cleaning. It’s no use having a beautifully decorated home if it’s messy. Wipe down the threshold, donate things you no longer use, clean the windows to allow more natural light to brighten your space, tidy up curtains and rugs, thus giving your entire home a fresh air.

A Christmassy Entrance

The first thing you see when you enter a house is its entrance. Therefore, you should bring the holiday spirit into your home right from the entrance and pay attention to this space. Decorate your front door with a Christmas wreath or other Christmas accessories, but don’t go overboard with the decorations – choose something simple and effective.

Warm and welcoming atmosphere

During the winter, we all prefer to spend more time indoors, in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Fluffy pillows, soft bedding and rugs bring a feeling of comfort and warmth to the home. Choose decorative pillows with Christmas motifs, fluffy rugs and knitted blankets in colors specific to the winter holidays – red, gold, green.

In order to bring even more holiday spirit into your home, candles are the perfect decorations to create that welcoming atmosphere. Choose scented varieties, such as vanilla, orange, or cinnamon, and integrate them into festive holders.

Light

The key elements in decorating your home for Christmas are lights. Choose installations with small bulbs and lights to create a warmer and more welcoming atmosphere. For the windows, you can create a curtain of lights using special string lights, or design a tree shape with bulbs and light strands for a festive touch. For an extra convivial atmosphere, add installations around the bed or on the door frames.

Bring Christmas closer by decorating your home in the holiday spirit with your loved ones. Grab a mug of hot chocolate, cookies, put on some Christmas carols, and you can start decorating your home for Christmas.

Our Work – Designing a 75 sqm Apartment

Each apartment is different and has its own characteristics, regardless of whether we are referring to size, partitioning or the needs of the owners. This is a real challenge for any architect. In this case, our team took care of a 3-bedroom apartment’s design, for a young couple who are passionate about traveling. The owners wanted as much storage space as possible, keeping in mind not visually overloading the space. In addition, the two wanted a modern interior with a neutral color scheme. After two months of creating, the result was a bright, organized apartment, with a harmonious decor.

The living room

Although a small space, the living room met the owners’ requirements – a relaxation area and a dining area. The area where the TV was placed was treated as a compact one, with lots of storage space and as few open spaces as possible. We kept the simple lines of the furniture and did not overload it visually. We added a large sofa and an armchair, both in shades of beige. For an extra touch of color and dynamism, the chromatic range was complemented by the curtains’ emerald green. The elegant touch of the living room is given by the glass coffee table, placed right in front of the sofa.

The living room is complemented by a dining area, located right in front of the glass wall that separates the kitchen from the rest of the room. We added a white 6-person table, as well as chairs in shades of beige and emerald green.

The bedroom

The bedroom was designed as a space for rest as well as a work area. The leather-upholstered bed and minimalist white bedside tables emphasize the modern design of the room. We also chose to use geometric elements – the decorative wall cladding is in line with the carpet print, complementing the decorative borders made of profiles on one of the main walls. The work area is reflected by a white desk, in simple lines, and a current and modern armchair-chair with checkered upholstery. To visually enlarge the space, we chose to cover an entire wall with a mirror and use a chromatic range based on white and beige shades. The accent color – blue – was used for one of the walls.

The dressing room

The second bedroom was transformed into a dressing room. We opted for wall-length wardrobes with mirrored doors to visually enlarge the space. We also included a makeup table with an armchair and a sofa bed. The color scheme that we used consists of a few shades, such as white, beige and yellow accents.

The kitchen

The living room and dining area were separated from the kitchen by a glass wall, which helped us visually enlarging the space. In order to have a visual coherence regarding the design, we chose white for the kitchen – furniture with a simple design, without visible handles. Taking into account its small size and to increase its functionality, we structured the furniture on two levels and opted for built-in appliances.

The hallway

In the hallway, we created storage spaces above the front door and on the side wall. We also chose a white and emerald green color scheme to connect with the living room.

The bathrooms

For the two bathrooms, we created storage spaces and opted for furniture with simple lines, in shades of beige. One of the bathrooms has a yellow accent.

A modern apartment, with classic lines and a contemporary ambiance – these are the words that describe the layout of this home. The overall design is clean and well-organized. The simple furniture, clean lines and neutral colors provide a sophisticated atmosphere to the entire space.

Wood Really Makes a Difference

We have talked about ceramics, colors, textures, children’s rooms and many other topics, but never about wood. We recently realized that although we love it and keep recommending it to our clients, we have not shared with you where these thoughts and feelings really come from. For a few enjoyable minutes of reading, let’s explore solid wood furniture, which is impressive, full of character, and truly remarkable.

We would like to start by telling you that every time we step into a workshop, we connect with wood. It is that genuine connection you can have with a material, because wood, more than anything, speaks to you. And this empathetic relationship between people and wood extends into interiors, especially when architects design projects with this connection in mind. Moreover, along with these, let’s not forget how important custom-made furniture is. There are intelligently-thought spaces, chromatics, storage systems, combinations between all the elements and, of course, the owners’ imprint.

There are many homes that are reminiscent of interwar style through the architecture specific to the period. The owners wish to preserve the charm of that era, where the restored solid wood parquet and the furniture continue the story. This is all for the simple reason that some things are simply made to stay together.

Wooden bookcase made to order by Elvila, details here

We admit that we love kitchens with retro notes in which we also find contemporary elements. The results are, in most cases, exemplary. It is important to think about custom-made furniture, especially in kitchens, since this is the place where we always need functionality, we need to listen to the needs of our clients. Using wood in a kitchen, aesthetically speaking, is an excellent choice, as it conveys more than any other material. Details, ornaments and other personalized elements always add uniqueness to the decor, influencing people’s feelings.

White kitchen furniture, custom-made by Elvila, details here.

This kitchen is the best example of classic style furniture, with modern details through the metro style ceramic tile wall, which has been extremely popular in interior design projects in recent years. It is a type of furniture that takes us to Italy or France, where the emphasis is on this retro style, on light, on quality, on the unique details brought by the owners in the design.

Solid wood can sometimes be overwhelming. But only if the furniture is chosen incorrectly compared to the rest of the elements in a room. White will always create the impression of a large space, even in small rooms. And here, we already know that nothing matters more than details. Don’t be afraid to choose retro even when the space’s dimensions limit your furniture range of options, because the French style will bring an extra touch of beauty to even the smallest rooms.

We didn’t choose this solid wood bedroom with blue upholstery by chance. It includes classic Parisian motifs and conveys comfort in a precious decor.

A very good example would be this custom-made furniture, which is white and includes classic-style upholstery, made by Elvila paying attention to even the smallest details, which always make a difference.

You may not believe us, but we really love modern classic furniture, retro interiors, upholstery that takes us back to 1950s Paris, vintage wallpaper. Since all of these are, more than anything else, proof of a connection with the past that we respect and love, we can’t ignore it, inspiring a lot from it.

We had the idea to write an article about solid wood furniture after we visited the Elvila showroom last week. It is very famous, especially, for the production of high-quality furniture for almost 30 years.

Four-Bedroom Apartment – Interior Design

This four-bedroom apartment is a very dear project of ours.

The interior design project was designed for a young couple and was in perfect harmony with their dynamic and adventurous personality.

As each project represents a new challenge, we managed to create a relaxing space, a modern and airy interior with accents of color and light.

The rearrangement of the apartment did not involve re-compartmentalization. Since it is an apartment located in a block of flats from the 80s, it needed its installations and finishes changed. The interior design of this apartment was elaborated by our partners from CorpConstruct.

We took into account the wishes of the young owners who were looking for a bright and warm decor. We did not want to visually overload the space, so we opted for white as the dominant color of the furniture. It is complemented by brown spots. We emphasized transparency and vibrant moments at key points throughout the apartment. To chromatically enhance the explosion of light and white, we opted for natural, modern, three-layered parquet, which offers style and elegance.

Since it is a four-bedroom apartment, it benefits from two generous hallways where we were able to fit enough storage spaces. The story of the interior design begins with the hallway that starts the composition, decorated with compact furniture without handles, furniture that seems to be an overall part of the wall. To illuminate it, we used a glass door for the entrance to the kitchen, and between the living room and the hallway a double door with glazed spaces.

As for the small hallway, here we chose to make a decorative wall cladding, with light accents given by the LED strips that we implemented.

A minimalist kitchen, without open spaces in which all the necessary appliances are integrated, was one of the main requirements of the beneficiaries in terms of the interior design project. Instead of classic tiles, we opted for white, heat-resistant glass, used to finish the area between the countertop and the suspended bodies. This type of finish is starting to gain great popularity. It is easy to maintain and clean. In order not to visually clutter the space, choosing a table with a glass top was the best option, the furniture was also uniquely designed, in a minimalist manner, with fronts cut at 45 degrees and push systems to avoid using handles.

The living room continues with the same simple theme. The white walls and MDF furniture give this living room a clean and modern air. The laminated wood flooring that warmly embraces the neutral tones of the furniture excellently complements the decor. Another key element is the lighting. This aspect was considered according to the specific functions of each room. We opted for a geometric TV composition, which adds dynamism to the space and integrates perfectly into the concept of modern interior design.

For the bedroom, the owners have a casual layout. Even though the space is in neutral tones, we personalized it, making it a wonderful place for relaxation. The natural texture of the laminated parquet continues here as well. The atmosphere is spacious and airy, given by the mirrors applied to the dressing room. The bed that we chose contains a textile finish and storage spaces. The wall behind it gives an extra touch of uniqueness through the colored vertical. We gave up on the classic lamps, opting for two wall lamps positioned to the left and right of the headboard.

The office was designed in a manner that contains the same warm tones, straight lines and color accents for the textile surfaces. Developed as a workspace for two people, it integrates perfectly into the overall interior design. It is a warm and light-filled room, perfect for a working day at home.

The last room was treated as a gaming, relaxation and good vibe space. The furniture was entirely crafted of MDF with simple, minimalist shapes. It was very well fitted into the interior design concept. In the window area we created a chic divan with storage spaces under it, perfect for a relaxation or reading area.

The feeling of elegance and freshness continues in the large bathroom, decorated and finished in harmony with the rest of the apartment. We used rectified finishes, wood-look tiles, combined with simple, beige tiles, ceramic tiles carefully installed by the team that carried out the interior design work. The wood-look tiles match the ceramic tiles, the bathtub is built-in, and the composite sink perfectly complements the recessed faucets.

The small bathroom was enhanced with the same ceramic tile designs: plain beige tiles combined with wood-look tiles. To visually enlarge the room, we chose to place a mirror on the entire wall above the sink.

This is the story of this apartment’s interior design, a calm but dynamic space that reflects the personality of the young family.
