How the First Anniversary of ARKKA Home Lovers Was Celebrated

Last week, we celebrated with our friends from Arkka their first year on the market. We were also at the event where we discovered, in addition to small pieces of furniture and accessories, the new Christmas collection. And we suddenly realized how close we are to the winter holidays. We have always loved Christmas, mostly because of the beauty of the accessories and decorations, but also because of the freedom to create an interior that reflects our desires.

We were already aware of the fact that at Arkka we always find small pieces of furniture that we are need at the end of the arrangement, such as bedside tables or coffee tables in the country chic style or even with an industrial touch, but also accessories for any room in the house. We really liked the coffee cups in different designs, made of ceramic or glass, but also the accessories for serving.

But what really impressed us was the Christmas collection with Scandinavian influences, where wood predominates. Many of the items found in the store took us back to our childhood for a few moments (the little trees, the wooden houses and stars, the musical metal carousel, but also the small and creative tree decorations). You already know that we like unconventional decorations, but especially, the arrangements that tell a story. We are passionate about places that always convey a sense of beauty, and in December we like everything that is unique. Maybe that’s why we spent the whole evening spinning the wheel of a red carousel, with Santa’s reindeer standing by, and listened to the song all the way to the end.

In addition to the laborious work on site, choosing finishes and furniture, we have always helped our clients in choosing accessories. Many ask us for advice and we have always answered them. We always say that in addition to the most beautiful sofa, you need the small accessories that will convey the charm of their home. If you liked the ones from Arkka, you can see their store or order online soon. In addition to the ones we have displayed above, you can also find bathroom accessories, children’s rooms, perfumes and candles for the room, textiles and many other accessories that would be necessary for your home.

Christmas Decorating Ideas

The overall enthusiasm of December is due to a long series of joys, from the happiness of children, the winter holidays, the transition to a new year and to the decorations that abound throughout the city. Many have a specific budget just for decorating their home and manage to bring impressive stories to life. We believe that there are certain principles for a design that can elevate even the most ordinary decorations from anonymity.

Go the easy way.

The holidays are about the joy of sharing. They are more about the spiritual aspects, rather than the material aspects. Choose as few decorations as possible but keep in mind that they should match each other and think only of certain places in the house where they fit perfectly. The most inspired ideas for Christmas remain wreaths, made either from fir or mistletoe branches, or from different types of wood.

Christmas wreathFocus on setting the Christmas table

The Christmas table, along with the Christmas tree, are the key elements for a perfect celebration. The Christmas table can have accessories in colors other than the traditional ones: red or gold. You can choose graphic patterns of black and white, pale pink or blue.

Christmas arrangementsChoose decorations that are as natural as possible

The twigs or garlands can be decorated with candied citrus fruits, which will highlight a simple yet extremely chic decoration, with a fresh scent, perfect for the cold days of December.

We insist on the idea that a house should have personality, reflecting the desires and preferences of those who live in it. The same shall be true for holiday decorating. Find an idea that is yours and that is completely out of the ordinary, such as hanging glass globes from the chandelier in the living room.

Globes

Don’t forget about magic.

A famous saying goes that “you’re never too old to believe in magic.” Think of an object that reminds you of your grandparents’ stories and integrate it into your Christmas decor. We recommend a wooden sleigh or a lantern.

Buy natural flowers

Every time we prepare a room, we don’t forget to buy natural flowers. An inspired decor is one that integrates fresh flowers with traditional decorations.

An apartment that banishes monotony

Already featured in the October issue of  ‘Casa și grădina’ magazine, this beautiful apartment has a story we were eager to share with you. The owners have become our friends and that is why the final result is exactly as we imagined.

When we met, they told us they wanted color and lots of storage space, we insisted on quality and details that were close to perfection. The apartment had already been renovated, so we decided to keep the interior doors but change the interior design. The tiles in the kitchen and the dark parquet in the rest of the rooms were replaced with new, light gray parquet.

We chose the basic colors together: gray, ocher and turquoise. From here the entire arrangement started and the owners completely respected the project we elaborated. We wandered together through showrooms and stores to find the perfect “gray”, and the right shade of furniture. Each of them must blend in perfect harmony, ensuring that the colors do not differ from one another in any way. For the furniture, we worked together with the team from Kubik Design, those who made sure that in the end each piece of furniture respected the colors decided together with the owners and combined glossy white MDF with turquoise, ocher and purple accents, in the bedroom’s case.

_mgt8391-copy _mgt8411-copy

For the living room, we chose a geometric rug from Ikea. The curtains were custom-made to match our simulation, and the empty spaces in the library are still waiting to be filled with drawings by Carla, the family’s 5-year-old. The chair belongs to Pufi, the newest member of the family, a 6-month-old cat.

_mgt8348-copy          Pufi was the star of the photo shoot, having only been in his owners’ lives for a week.

The kitchen is also designed to hide all the less aesthetic elements. The apartment’s heating system is hidden in a piece of furniture and the radiator is hidden by the cast Corian countertop in which the ventilation holes were cut. The sink is cast, large, and deep enough, exactly as the owners desired. The wall was covered with white glass and our favorite piece is the kitchen table. This is because it can be used both against the wall and as a coffee table, thanks to an intelligent rotation system designed by Kubik Design.

_mgt8428-copy _mgt8455-copy

_mgt8450-copy                               This piece of furniture covers the apartment central heating system

It may already sound cliché that we like apartments that feel like home, but that’s the feeling we got when we met up with the owners after the project was completed. Right from the entrance, everything is super cozy, colorful and bright, far from the drab feeling of the gray and monotonous apartment buildings.

10 Years of BoConcept and a New Scandinavian Design Collection

Last week we celebrated 10 years of BoConcept, a brand that I discovered back when I was studying architecture. Without a doubt, we share a long friendship but also the same statement about ourselves and the homes we furnish: we only surround ourselves with things that we like and that truly define us!

In addition to the joy of celebrating with them, we also thoroughly enjoyed the news in Scandinavian design, one of the most well-known and loved trends in the world. So, on a rainy and hectic Wednesday, we rediscovered a fascinating world, with new pieces that bear the signature of quality and creativity specific to Nordic furniture pieces.

In addition to the already known pieces, BoConcept has introduced a series of new products, all characterized by comfort and relaxation. This is exactly how the new Athena armchair is defined, an armchair designed with absolute convenience in mind since it rotates and tilts depending on how you want it. The diversity in which it can reach the consumer is another asset of this new product. It comes in a selection of 120 fabric and leather options, along with three different leg styles.

Also in the comfort area, the new Hampton sofa “is a tribute to urban luxury,” the Danish company says. With a low, simple but very stable base and innovative adjustable cushions, Hampton is extremely pleasant and can be easily incorporated into any room. The edges can be used as storage spaces and can be customized according to the available space, being a completely modular piece.

These are just two of a multitude of exceptional options, from sofas, tables and children’s furniture, desks or accessories, all with a design with simple but very chic lines. The BoConcept style is sophisticated and at the same time very simple, designed for metropolitan spaces and with ingenious storage solutions. From current grays to shades of pink, the colors are also the signature of a unique style.

There are also new accessories, which we honestly love! They are all seasonal pieces, made of marble, copper, gold or feathers, with floral or jungle prints.

10 years of BoConcept and a fabulous collection means a lot when it comes to interior design and for our homes that are gaining more and more personality. And now, in the end, we can’t help but say again: “Here’s to many more wonderful years, BoConcept, and to many more collections for exceptional people and homes!”

More details about the new BoConcept products can be accessed online or in our showroom.

Autumn trends in interior design

The last months of 2016 bring interiors featuring elements that tell a story of authenticity and timelessness, all while remaining understated. We remain present in the realm of geometric shapes in fabrics, artisan glass and precious metals, pastel shades and patterns that resemble marble. Most of the color trends contain varieties of blue, including the much-loved turquoise, grays, indigo and gold.

Claire-Paquin_Billington_Family-Room-Sectional.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.966.6442015 was undoubtedly the “year of copper” in interiors, the year that entitled it “the metal of the moment”, but 2016 brought a touch of refinement through well-chosen pieces as accents that create a glamorous look. It is the sophisticated, rich in surfaces and colors interiors period. Rooms can be created from a palette of one or two colors and, rather than an unnecessary overuse of furniture elements, each piece will be a style statement. Models borrowed from the fashion world, with tropical prints, remain inspired choices this fall.

There has been a real movement towards using geometric patterns in flooring, in a range of materials, from painted wood tiles to ceramic or cement. Whether we’re talking about bold black and white or the full spectrum of colors, these extremely creative solutions are in the spotlight this year-end! But let’s not forget about nostalgic ideas from the design industry. We will see the return of traditional layouts, prints but also unusual floral prints, from bouquets to bold leaf patterns.

This season’s trend is to flirt with simplicity, natural materials, uncluttered spaces, artisanal objects and basic shapes. In a world of overconsumption and quantity over quality, this seems to represent a welcome change that will thrive in the coming years.

Let’s not forget that interior decorations will always borrow ideas from fashion industry trends. What could be more beautiful than a home that looks exactly like you.

Designing the child’s room

For us, the most beautiful and creative project is decorating a child’s room. This is the project you fall in love with at first sight, where every detail matters, and every choice is made with care. And all this because the little ones deserve a place of their own, a place that reflects their personality even from an early age.

We have gathered a series of reliable ideas for you, which we usually apply in our projects. The little ones have proven to be extremely happy every time .

  • Create a universe just for them, where every corner meets their style and preferences;
  • Children need space, both for playing and for sleeping. Most of the beds we purchase for the little ones are large enough;
  • If they have a passion, try to incorporate it into the room design in different ways, from personalized wallpaper, to details and accessories;
  • Personalizing the bed is another example that we love, especially if we talk about creating a headboard with affordable materials;

There are many examples for designing the perfect room for our children, but our most valuable advice is: be as creative as possible! It is probably the only room where you can, at least for a little while, be children again.

Piastrelle Casa – A Year of Stile di Vita

You already know that we have a close friendship with Piastrelle CASA, which is a brand that we have admired and followed closely for a year! But the roots of our collaboration are much deeper, dating back to years in which we gradually discovered perfect ceramic products that have shaped interiors that we are proud of.

Piastrelle CASA is, once again, proof that when you truly believe in something, hopes become reality. Thus, we celebrated together a year of Piastrelle CASA in a dolce far niente atmosphere, in the company of partners, media representatives, architects, designers and close friends.

13497697_1147804938595241_3219375998114126996_o 13522978_1147805101928558_1077404048372623421_o 13528112_1147805308595204_1839868083715534593_o

Piastrelle CASA is and will remain your home, the place where personalization and personality take center stage. Our range of interior design products is constantly expanding. We welcome you to our concept space, designed to delight your soul and introduce you to a new lifestyle and state of mind. –  Ramona Stănciulescu, managing partner Piastrelle & Piastrelle CASA.

The custom-made lifestyle goes beyond interior design, extending to personalized accessories and jewelry.

Besides the joy of being around wonderful people we’ve known for years, along with their high-quality products, we discovered the newest personalized jewelry brand that, like the interior brand, teaches us that beautiful stories are written with a personal and emotional touch that we can hardly replace. Ostara Wave, through the Geometry of Love collection is a unique brand, represented by bracelets and pendants that carry encrypted messages and voices of loved ones. Just as fingers have a unique fingerprint, voices also have a pattern, which, visually translated, takes the form of waves. The final result is a unique accessory, with a strong emotional and personal charge for those who wear them.

If you want to know more about Ostara Wave, discover the story here. As for Piastrelle Casa, you must visit their showroom, where the classic style blends perfectly with the modern one, made in Italy, with industrial influences. This is where we also choose some of our ceramic tiles, parquet, accessories and furniture. To many more creative and beautiful years!

Have you thought about what to do with your attic?

We are super lucky and this cannot remain only for us! Why wouldn’t we share with you a beautiful dream, about magical places that everyone dreams of transforming into real places. It’s about our attics, much loved and popular, though not achieved overnight, we would say. We can even say unequivocally, an attic never comes alone!

We have always loved attics, but until recently they were not a priority for their owners, until they found an opportunity in them that they could exploit, whether in a classic, Scandinavian, industrial or French style. We like them all, we decorate each space with passion and find utility in everything. That is who we are and therefore, our projects also take on a form that we cannot keep secret.

If you have an attic and until recently you kept it as a secret, we tell you to reconsider. It can become an excellent storage space, a different office, flooded with light, or a playground for the little ones. We’re also thinking about the latter option because, we confess, when we were kids, our attic was a secret space we weren’t allowed to invade, yet it was always where we hid after school.

A room that will soon become an office, with iron lamps with industrial accents and a desk with plenty of natural light.

A recompartmented playroom after the remodeling project, with stickers stuck on one of the walls and a library ready to host lots of games and books worthy of a young teenager.

The owners needed storage space, so we designed an attic where the story is written by the play of lighting objects and the colors given by the leather armchairs and rugs.

The Colors of the Year 2016 in Interior Design

When Pantone decided that 2016 would be about two colors, not just one, imagine our joy. Especially since Rose Quartz and Serenity are so special and easy to integrate into any room’s design.

From textures, wall colors, and accessories, this year will undoubtedly be full of challenges…CREATIVE!

maxresdefault

Our minds take us to countless places, from the beach house, so simple but with striking accessories, to our grandmother’s old furniture that holds so many memories.

Rosy-kilim-rug-from-Anthropologie

The advantage of these two colors in any home interior is that, both together and separately, they bring a touch of tranquility and synergy to the contemporary world so full of challenges. You can combine them with white or dark gray shades but also with / or in graphic patterns to create a contrast.

picabia-bedroom-giuseppe-vigano

Also, consider integrating them into your home design for a touch of uniqueness, which leads to obtaining a design beyond the conventional. A curtain in shades of Rose Quartz velvet, a handmade rug that combines both colors with playful patterns can be exactly the sophisticated touches a home needs, but also solutions to give the impression of a larger space to certain rooms.

Rebecca-Williams

When it comes to furniture, our preferences lean towards the velvet sofa or armchair that you can easily integrate into any decor as accent pieces or towards a specific element, such as a coffee table or chest of drawers, designed to complement a design with notes of refinement and sensitivity.

Blush-settee-from-West-Elm

Both Rose Quartz (shade 13-1520) and Serenity Blue (15-3919) are an interior designer’s delight and for these wonderful choices we can only say “Thank you, Pantone!”.
