When you have a family, your focus naturally shifts to them, and you want to provide the very best in comfort and beauty. A large and welcoming house is definitely at the top of the list. Today, we would like to showcase the house of a couple, young parents with 2 children and a puppy. They wanted the 250sqm home, arranged on 2 levels and a basement, to be modern and up-to-date, with elegant accents. They wanted a balanced and unified space, with lots of light. Let’s see what came out!
The 250sqm house is organized on 2 levels and a basement. On the ground floor there is the living room and dining area, the kitchen, the guest room and a bathroom. Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, while the basement is used as a technical space and hobby room. No changes were made in terms of compartmentalization, but in terms of functionality. Thus, depending on the room and its destination, we focused on increasing the degree of comfort both by using quality finishes and by making the spaces more efficient.
The owners wanted a modern design with elegant accents, with a neutral color scheme; for the children (the 2 girls) they wanted their bedrooms to reflect their ages and personalities.

Living room
The living room is one of the brightest spaces in the house, so we paid attention especially to it. The space opens to the terrace, courtyard and kitchen through double glass doors. To make the most of the living room’s natural brightness and its garden-facing orientation, we chose white sheer curtains without drapes.
We arranged the living room around two elements that the owners wanted integrated in the design: the wood-burning fireplace and the piano. We highlighted these special pieces through the chosen colors, but also through the elegant and classic notes given by the finishes. Beige and gray tones but also white are the shades chosen for the arrangement of this space. The elegance of the living room is mainly given by the gray velvet sofa and the two spacious armchairs placed in the brightest area of the living room.

The living room flows into the dining area, where we selected a white wooden table paired with white chairs featuring beige upholstery.

Master Bedroom
The master bedroom has the same specific lighting as well. Therefore, for this room’s design we chose to use white and beige tones, with a lilac chromatic accent on one of the room’s walls. The furniture that we selected is simple, which does not clutter the space and which, moreover, is in line with the owners’ desires. The leather-upholstered bed and the lighting fixtures with golden accents, bring an extra touch of elegance to the bedroom.

Children’s bedrooms (girls)
The owners’ most important wish reflects the arrangement of the bedrooms of their two daughters.
They wanted rooms that were in line with their personalities and that reflected their passions.
So, the eldest daughter is passionate about sports, so we created an area for placing a trellis right in the bedroom.

My little girl loves to draw, so we designed a wall with chalkboard paint for her to draw on. We even painted the door, turning the room into a huge chalkboard.

For both rooms we created book storage spaces, thus creating a library where they can store all their books. Both rooms were decorated in beige-white chromatics, with blue and teal accents, soothing colors suitable for bedrooms and recreation spaces.
The kitchen
The kitchen was decorated in harmony with the living room, starting from a clearly established element – the island. Thus, the central island is used both as a cooking or dining space, as well as a work area. For maximum elegance and modernity of the space, the chromatic range consists of black and white. We took into account the entire size of the kitchen to create a functional and modern space.

Hallway and Staircase
In the hallway, we created storage spaces, a coat rack, and a bench adjacent to the existing dressing room on the ground floor. For the staircase area, we opted for a neutral color scheme, copper and white tones, in order to maintain the same style in which we decorated the entire house.

The bathrooms
The bathrooms are modernly designed, with elegant accents, creating a relaxation and spa area. The size of the spaces allowed us to add a bathtub, 2 sinks and storage spaces. We chose the color scheme of beige, white and brown, with blue accents for one of the bathrooms and gray accents for the other.

2015 was undoubtedly the “year of copper” in interiors, the year that entitled it “the metal of the moment”, but 2016 brought a touch of refinement through well-chosen pieces as accents that create a glamorous look. It is the sophisticated, rich in surfaces and colors interiors period. Rooms can be created from a palette of one or two colors and, rather than an unnecessary overuse of furniture elements, each piece will be a style statement. Models borrowed from the fashion world, with tropical prints, remain inspired choices this fall.
