Beauty Salon Design – Beauty Salon Jovsky

When it comes to designing a beauty salon, you must consider several requirements: in addition to the salon’s personalized services, the atmosphere and decor play an important role in the well-being and relaxation of customers. Details are crucial – from the entrance and the welcoming greeting to the colors used in the design. Below, we present our design proposal for the Jovsky Salon, which was finished last year.

In this design, we relied on the interweaving of two concepts: Feng Shui and industrial design. According to the Chinese philosophy of Feng Shui, interior design is not just a simple arrangement of objects in space. On the contrary, it has a strong impact on everyday life. That’s what we wanted to achieve: we took into account the needs, necessities and particularities of a beauty salon and we capitalized on each space, studying colors and textures.

Thus, for the industrial decor, we mainly used shades of gray, that we highlighted through adding a few plants and green accents (lichens and decorative plants), arranged in the space in a way that creates contrasts but, at the same time, respects the principles of Feng Shui – strengthening the communion of man with nature and balance. To highlight the industrial style, we used several elements. We used natural materials and chose a ceramic cladding that imitates concrete. In addition to colors, we also focused on textures, which is why we chose to upholster one of the pillars with a decorative fabric panel. We highlighted the manicure and pedicure area by placing a painting with decorative lichens. The central island area was enhanced by mirrors and plants.

Since it is a beauty salon, the design had to meet several rules. One of them, which is the most important one, was the creation of work areas. These were achieved with the help of light and mirrors without diminishing the dimensions of the space.

Since it’s a space with a relatively small surface area, we had to define the different areas to some extent. Thus, we chose a mirror divider to define the areas, which not only visually enlarges the space but also creates the impression of a larger, more expansive area. For an extra touch of color we added ochre but we limited ourselves to only a few colors so as not to visually overload the space.

Another very important element to take into account was the light, bringing liveliness and a sense of well-being to the entire space. Since it was all about a beauty salon, the lighting had to be special. Thus, we used specific lighting systems for each area. Depending on the space (diagnostic area, client pampering area, work area, manicure and pedicure area), the lighting was created in a manner that doesn’t distort the colors but improves the procedure as much as possible.

Therefore, for the Jovsky Salon we created an industrial design intertwined with the Feng Shui philosophy that implies balance. We achieved the coherence of the space by combining colors and by bringing into each area, in various shapes and shades, the five essential elements of life: wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

Single-Family House – 250 sqm, Dubai

The series of  “our work” articles continues. Today we chose to present you the home of a young couple with two little girls. The owners wanted their 250 sq m home organized on 2 levels, with an attic to be decorated in a modern and elegant way, with a few classic notes. Let’s see what came out!

The home has a well-thought-out layout with a traditional division of spaces – on the ground floor we find the living area, which consists of a living room, kitchen, dining room and a guest bathroom. On the first floor, the rest area includes a master bedroom with a dressing room and private bathroom, as well as a girls’ room featuring a bedroom, a playroom, and a private bathroom. In the attic we created a hobby area – it is a secondary kitchen where they gather and enjoy the generous terrace they have on the top floor.

The house offers a spacious, well-organized layout, complemented by large glass surfaces and exceptional natural light. Therefore, we chose to capitalize on these things by highlighting the various areas.

The kitchen is open to the dining and living area, a space that benefits from exceptional natural light and expansive glass surfaces. We tried to seamlessly integrate it into the ground floor layout, designing it as a cohesive and unified concept. In the kitchen area we chose profiled furniture for an extra touch of elegance, a special patterned tile and some metallic elements and copper accents meant to give improve the layout.

To visually separate the kitchen from the rest of the ground floor, we chose to create a bar for the breakfast area.

The living room and dining area are oriented towards the garden, benefiting from plenty of natural light. In the dining area we chose to combine modern and classic elements. Thus, we opted for a table with a wooden top, as well as for more industrial and copper metal chairs. The color spot on the ground floor is reflected by the sofa in a turquoise shade. As a texture we chose velvet in order to add extra elegance and comfort.

In the downstairs bathroom, we chose white, black, and gray hexagonal tiles, which we placed on both the wall and the floor, in combination with a shade of sunny yellow for the walls.

Since any successful design maintains continuity even when areas serve different purposes, we designed the rest area (the first floor) in a manner that naturally extends it from the ground floor.

The master bedroom is also designed in the same elegant tone that we approached regarding the master bedroom. We chose an upholstered bed, a Moroccan pattern wallpaper and lighting fixtures in tone with the wallpaper. We highlighted the entire space by using metallic accents and colors.

The girls’ room had to be special and unique since they were making the transition from an apartment to a house and that’s when they needed to find themselves in this room. We chose to decorate it in tones of pale pink and white without cluttering the space, creating a cozier atmosphere through excellent materials and textures.

A unique element in this design would be the epoxy resin which we used for the bathrooms in order to transform them into surprising spaces. For the girls’ bathroom, we chose a powdery pink epoxy resin floor that we highlighted by adding light beige 3D natural tiles. In the master bathroom, we chose a turquoise epoxy resin floor, a Moroccan pattern mosaic, pearl white and turquoise tones.

The home decor took a while to finish. The final result is modern, elegant, harmonious and functional, and will definitely last over time. We hope you were inspired by the ideas in this article!

Minimalist Studio Designed for Airbnb Rental

Furnishing and redecorating small spaces is a real challenge, especially when you want a simple and functional space, with a design that is interesting enough to attract tourists seeking short-term accommodation. The owners of the studio apartment that we will talk about in this article wanted a minimalist design with a few color accents. Let’s see what we obtained!

The bedroom
The central part of the entire studio is the bedroom. We opted for a simple and minimalist design, opting for a color palette of three colors: white, pastel pink and navy blue. On the wall behind the bed, we chose to blend white and pastel pink shades, creating a geometric pattern that extends onto the wall with the window. Opposite the bed is the TV area, where we painted the entire wall in a deep navy blue shade. For the wardrobe and bed, we used white, while for the TV chest of drawers and the mini bookcase next to it, we opted for a shade of beige. The painting above the bed and the striped carpet provide dynamism to the space, while the large mirror on the wardrobe door, strategically chosen, enhances the sense of space.
The kitchen
The kitchen was designed by the same stylistic principles as the bedroom – white and pastel pink, with natural accents. The appliances are built into the white furniture, additionally containing shelves and doorless cabinets in the color of wood. To continue the natural look, the work area (countertop) and table were also chosen in the shade of wood.
The bathroom
The bathroom maintains visual coherence with the kitchen, with a focus on the shower area, where we opted for turquoise tiles.
Therefore, a small and simple home, but pleasantly decorated and well-organized, always creates a warm and relaxing atmosphere. We hope we inspired you!

Design Ideas for Small Bathrooms

Most of the time, the space for a bathroom is very small, which makes a simple room design, a very difficult mission. How do you optimize the space in your bathroom so that it becomes a pleasant, airy and functional room? If you deal with a small bathroom and want to start the design or renovation process, we have prepared some ideas and tricks for inspiration.

Opt for light colors

Choose light colors to visually enlarge the room, preferably a combination of two neutral and bright shades (pastel yellow, green, light blue, gray). Even if it seems monotonous to have a maximum of two colors, you can enhance the space by bringing vibrant color to the bathroom through decorations – bath mat, colorful towels.

You can also opt for the same color on the walls, floor and ceiling, and for this situation white is the best choice. If you choose wall and floor tiles in the same shade, you’ll create a sense of continuity, making the space appear larger.

Play with textures

Remember: it is better to play with textures than with shades. For example, choose plain white tiles for the shower or bath area, and for the adjacent wall, opt for brick-effect tiles.

Another option is to choose mosaic instead of classic tiles. In addition to the fact that visually, the space will seem much more generous, mosaic can be installed in more difficult areas. Of course, there are other options – microcement – for a seamless bathroom, resistant over time and easy to maintain; fiberglass wallpaper.

Sanitary ware and furniture

Choose sanitary ware that suits the space – instead of a large bathtub that will take up half of your bathroom space, opt for a glass shower cabin – it will add elegance to the bathroom and visually enlarge it. Choose a corner washbasin specially designed for small bathrooms or a washbasin with a built-in cabinet.

Furniture should be chosen in the last phase of the arrangement because sanitary ware can reduce its size. Opt for suspended furniture to free up as much of the floor space as possible, a mirror cabinet and a few shelves above the toilet.

Make the most of all the available space – for example, the shower wall and the bathroom door remain unused so you can take advantage of that. All you need is an organizer with pockets or baskets that you can mount on the door or a support bar on the wall next to the shower where you can hang various baskets.

Light

A very important aspect is the bathroom’s lighting, especially if there is no window. In addition to the central lighting system, it is good to use enough spotlights near the mirror.

Choose the tips that suit your needs, adapt them to your preferences and enjoy a functional and optimized bathroom.

Everything You Need to Know About Decorative Stickers

While many years ago, houses were decorated with numerous paintings and furniture was filled with knick-knacks of all sizes, today, arranging a space has become much more simplistic and minimalist. One of the most convenient ideas to give a home a special touch is the use of decorative stickers. The most significant benefit of using decorative stickers is that, if they no longer satisfy your desires, you can remove them without leaving marks on the wall.

Color of the Year 2020 – How to Integrate It into Interior Design

Colors play a very important role in any interior design. Even though color trends change from year to year, it doesn’t mean that you have to completely change the layout of your home, but you can add a few decorative items for a touch of color and atmosphere instead.

If in 2019 the favorite color was Living Coral, a color full of energy, warm and elegance, the year 2020 focuses on cooler, marine shades. Classic Blue is the color of the year 2020, a shade that brings us closer to nature and brings us to a state of comfort and sustainability.

Classic Blue can be used in a multitude of materials and prints – a vase, a candle, paintings, curtains, decorative pillows in the living room or even a bedroom wall painted in Classic Blue – are just a few examples of how you can bring this color into your home.

Therefore, blue is the trending color for this year, both for painting walls and for upholstery or decorative objects. You can give a fresh and modern air to your home by using a shade of blue. For example, beige shades can be associated with shades of blue for a warm and bright atmosphere. It is already known that blue brightens the atmosphere, providing a state of calm. This color is especially used in bedroom design.

If you are planning to decorate your home, you can consider to use the color of the year 2020 in your interior design and use your creativity. What you also need to know is that in addition to Classic Blue as the color of the year 2020, designers recommend minimalist decors, with multifunctional furniture made of natural and sustainable materials.

Minimalist Design with Industrial Accents in a 130 sqm Apartment

When apartment owners tell you that they want to radically change their home, you know that you have to balance certain aspects. That was the case when we received the challenge of furnishing a 130sqm 3-bedroom apartment in a minimalist design but in classic lines, with industrial accents. Therefore, the entire project was conceived as a layout with classic lines, but also with simple furniture and industrial accents in terms of finishes. The result was a minimalist, urban interior that inspires warmth, as well as a functional, interesting and industrial space through the combinations of materials and textures. But let’s find out more!

The owners wanted a coherent layout with integrated furniture. We aligned and incorporated the laundry, storage areas, and dressing room into the hallway’s furniture. The access to the service bathroom is through a filomuro door with a copper mirror finish, making the entry discreet and unobtrusive.

The furniture was designed in a single color – gray – to remain neutral and thus allow the textures to stand out.

Not being an apartment with a significant height, but with a fairly large open surface, it required punctual lighting. Thus, for the hallways and kitchen we opted for directional, recessed spotlights, while for the accent lighting we chose LED strips (also recessed) to give dynamism to the space.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is characterized by simple, classic lines without open storage, but with built-in appliances. Due to the generous surface, there was no need for suspended furniture parts. We opted for copper-plated glass instead of tiles, thus transforming the kitchen into one of the house’s interest areas.

The Living Room

The living room was decorated in the same tone as the rest of the house, minimalist with industrial accents. A cement-effect paint was used for the ceilings and pillars.

We integrated metal fittings for the walls, metal sliding doors and glass doors with metal frames into the design to emphasize the industrial thematic idea. The chosen color scheme is a combination of gray tones, with an accent color – the yellow used for the sofa.

The Dining Area

The living room contains the dining area as well, the space where we placed a brown wooden table with 4 velvet upholstered chairs and 2 industrial-looking chairs. The velvet used for the curtains and sofa brings a touch of elegance to the space.

The Bedroom

This space was designed in the style as the living room and kitchen – minimalist and industrial. For the wall behind the bed, we chose a cement-like paint and a metallic finish. The copper mirror in the living room and kitchen is also found here. The same shades of gray are present in the bedroom, but this time the color accent is given by the turquoise armchair.

The Bathroom

The bathroom design was conceived as a clean and simple space, but at the same time effective. Here, we opted for a black, white and brown color scheme, marble-look ceramic tiles and wood-look tiles, thus maintaining the idea inspired by the rest of the home. We chose buried faucets, a walk-in shower, a bathtub and a composite sink.

Hallways

They are the transition space from one room to another, so they were treated in the same way in terms of importance. Decorative paint, copper-plated mirrors, and furniture with metallic accents make these areas the perfect connecting spaces.

The entire project was designed as a cohesive unit. Therefore, we used complementary materials throughout the layout, ensuring they enhance one another. We combined textures and colors to avoid monotony. The warm-toned parquet, both in texture and color, creates a balance with the ceiling and the “cement” finished walls.

Final Christmas Preparations – Table Setting

There are still a few days until Christmas, the holiday that brings us together and gathers the whole family around the lavish table. Setting the Christmas table becomes the main concern before the whole family gathers around it. But how do we set the table in a manner that gives it a festive air? We have prepared some ideas to inspire you.

Rustic style setting

The rustic approach to setting the Christmas table emphasizes simplicity and the connection with nature. Everything is natural, from the decorations to the napkins and tablecloth. So, instead of shiny ornaments, choose pots with fir trees, cones, fir branches or dried orange slices. Opt for a linen or cotton tablecloth and napkins, choose white, simple dishes, without decorative elements and simple glasses. To enhance the rustic picture, choose gold cutlery and gold candle holders with white candles decorated with fir branches.

Classic red and gold arrangement

This type of arrangement is chosen by most of us. The combination of red and gold is specific to the winter holidays. For the classic red-gold approach, start with a beige tablecloth and beige placemats. Enhance with red textile napkins that contrast the placemats and tablecloth. Choose white tableware with gold decoration and gold cutlery. You can opt for simple glasses or ones with gold decoration. As decorations, you can opt for simple gold candlesticks and white candles, while around them you can create arrangements of fir branches, cones and small red globes.

Modern Decoration

The modern approach to Christmas table setting is what we now call “modern lifestyle” – simplicity and speed. You need a white cotton tablecloth (you don’t have to worry if it’s not ironed), and to create a point of interest choose a piece of fabric in a neutral shade that you can decorate with fir branches or cones. You can decorate the table napkins with fir branches or small baubles that you can tie with a gold ribbon, and for the tableware you can choose white plates with square shapes and elegant lines. Opt for simple glasses and gold cutlery. Complete the decor with gold candlesticks and white candles with gold accents.

In conclusion, all you have to do is choose an approach that matches your home decor, then select the colors, textures, and finishes, balancing everything in an arrangement that will surprise your loved ones.

Interior Design for the Cold Season – Textures and Colors

As the cold season sets in, we tend to spend more time at home. That is why we are tempted to arrange our own cozy and harmonious paradise where we can feel good.

There are many details to take into account in interior design when it comes to the cold season, from styles (rustic, classic, modern) and chromatics (neutral colors or on the contrary, extravagant colors), to the space and our needs. We consider that the most important aspects in arranging a decor for the cold season are the shades and textures.

Focus on natural textures

Different textures and materials give a special touch to any room. Whether we are referring to furniture or decorations, the cold season inspires us to choose natural materials since they outline a calm and cozy environment.

Wood and leather are the materials that best convey the warm atmosphere, providing extra authenticity to a room. While wood can be easily adapted for furniture, combining very easily with other types of textures and colors, leather is dedicated to rugs that you can place either on the floor or on chairs and armchairs. In addition to wood and leather, you can also integrate textures such as stones or bricks, offering an industrial look to the room.

When it comes to decorations, ornaments, or accessories, textures like cotton, linen, mohair knits, velvet, and cashmere are perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Velvet, for example, can be used for curtains, decorative pillows or bedspreads, and for an interesting contrast, you can combine wooden furniture with velvet decorations.

Color Range

The color range for interior design in the cold season is very diverse. People who prefer a rustic and minimalist style can opt for white or shades of beige, brown and gray. On the other hand, for color lovers, the color palette varies from bright orange and burgundy to mustard yellow or copper. Color contrasts bring a special touch to the space – for example, we can choose to add decorations and accessories in bright shades next to dark furniture. Dark green can also be an element in interior design in the cold season, combined with dark shades of brown or beige tones. You can add green accents to a room through curtains, bedding or decorative pillows.

Home decorating ideas for the cold season

–       Cover the bed with a fluffy blanket, perfect for using when you want to read a book and drink a cup of tea. Choose colors that match the outside atmosphere (copper, yellow or beige) or you can opt for rustic prints;

–        Add decorative pillows in shades of dark green, burgundy or yellow on the bed or sofa and place a knitted blanket on the armchair;

–        Change the curtains with new ones, in shades of orange, dark green, gold and copper tones, colors that will definitely bring the autumn atmosphere to the house;

–        Add a touch of coziness to the room with a fluffy rug in a neutral color;

–       Opt for candles to light in the late fall and winter evenings – burgundy or dark green candles will definitely bring a sophisticated air to the room;

Therefore, let yourself be inspired by the rustic atmosphere and natural setting that the cold season offers us and adopt these elements in the interior design of your home, using specific textures and colors.

How to Choose the Perfect Sofa for Your Living Room

The sofa is the main piece of furniture in your living room, the place where you can relax on a Sunday afternoon, where guests will stay or the place where you will watch your favorite series with the whole family. The sofa is the focal point of the room, the key to the entire room’s design, the element that will set the tone for the style of your living room. That is why it is very important to see the purchase of a sofa as a long-term investment and to consider a few landmarks when deciding to complement your living room with such a piece of furniture. There are a multitude of styles and models of sofas – the design, color, size, material are just a few details that make the difference. Below, we offer you some tips & tricks in choosing the perfect sofa for your living room.

Choose the place where the sofa will be placed

The most important thing when you want to purchase a sofa (and any piece of furniture in general) is to take into account the space that the room offers you. So, the first step would be to measure the size of the space where you want to place the sofa and then choose your favorite model.

A trick for placing the sofa is to position it in a place where the sun does not fall directly, so the lifespan of the product will be longer. If we are talking about an open space living room or a studio apartment, you can place the sofa as a delimiting area between the dining area and the relaxation area.

The right sofa for your needs

There are several types of sofas, and depending on how you want to use it, you can choose a simple sofa, which does not unfold, or an extendable one that turns into a bed. If you know that you will someday need an extra bed, choose an extendable sofa. However, if you think that you will not use the sofa as a bed, then a simple sofa would be the ideal choice, especially since there are several options here.

The right size

The sofa’s size will always be influenced by the room’s dimensions. So, if you have a spacious living room, you can invest in a 4-5 seater corner sofa or a 3-4 seater modular sofa. For a studio apartment, you can opt for a 2-seater sofa bed that you can easily convert into a bed.

If you want your living room to give the impression of a large space, choose a compact sofa, comfortable enough, with thin wooden legs that will leave space between the seat and the floor, offering the impression of more generous space. However, be careful about the size of the sofa’s arms – if they are bulky, they will take up more space and will not bring you any extra comfort.

Sofa material

The perfect sofa must ideally combine comfort and appearance because this piece of furniture will completely influence the design of the room. Therefore, pay special attention to the material used for the sofa in order to be sure that you choose a model that will stand the test of time.

Ensure that the material of the sofa frame is sturdy and high-quality, providing long-lasting durability. The ideal choice would be the frame made of wood (preferably hardwood, such as walnut or beech) or metal (for a minimalist living room).

For sofa upholstery, there are several options depending on aesthetic considerations – leather, fabric, cotton, velvet. Fabric upholstery is the most accessible option for people who want simplicity and comfort. it is also the cheapest choice, but also relatively easy to maintain. In addition, there is a variety of colors and models available to choose from. For an elegant and masculine accent in your living room design, you can choose leather upholstery. It is very easy to maintain it with a damp cloth, which is all the care it needs.

The right color

In addition to the model, material and size, color is an essential feature in choosing the perfect sofa. There are a multitude of colors, prints and patterns. When choosing to buy a sofa you have to decide whether you want a simple model, a neutral color or, on the contrary, a strong print.

A neutral color, such as tones of beige, gray or white or black, will give the room an airy, clean and tidy look, allowing you to easily redecorate the future using decorative pillows or other ornaments. Neutral colors are especially suitable for rooms with a classic, minimalist design.

If a neutral color is not to your liking, you can choose a pastel color instead. They integrate perfectly into a decor with accessories in similar shades, giving a bright look to the space. Also, pastel-colored sofas perfectly complement bright shades if you choose such furniture.

In conclusion, when you decide to buy a sofa for your living room, you need to consider two important aspects: comfort and size. Decide on the space where you want to place the sofa, visualize the decor, note down all the details and go shopping!
