Beauty Salon Design – Beauty Salon Jovsky

When it comes to designing a beauty salon, you must consider several requirements: in addition to the salon’s personalized services, the atmosphere and decor play an important role in the well-being and relaxation of customers. Details are crucial – from the entrance and the welcoming greeting to the colors used in the design. Below, we present our design proposal for the Jovsky Salon, which was finished last year.

In this design, we relied on the interweaving of two concepts: Feng Shui and industrial design. According to the Chinese philosophy of Feng Shui, interior design is not just a simple arrangement of objects in space. On the contrary, it has a strong impact on everyday life. That’s what we wanted to achieve: we took into account the needs, necessities and particularities of a beauty salon and we capitalized on each space, studying colors and textures.

Thus, for the industrial decor, we mainly used shades of gray, that we highlighted through adding a few plants and green accents (lichens and decorative plants), arranged in the space in a way that creates contrasts but, at the same time, respects the principles of Feng Shui – strengthening the communion of man with nature and balance. To highlight the industrial style, we used several elements. We used natural materials and chose a ceramic cladding that imitates concrete. In addition to colors, we also focused on textures, which is why we chose to upholster one of the pillars with a decorative fabric panel. We highlighted the manicure and pedicure area by placing a painting with decorative lichens. The central island area was enhanced by mirrors and plants.

Since it is a beauty salon, the design had to meet several rules. One of them, which is the most important one, was the creation of work areas. These were achieved with the help of light and mirrors without diminishing the dimensions of the space.

Since it’s a space with a relatively small surface area, we had to define the different areas to some extent. Thus, we chose a mirror divider to define the areas, which not only visually enlarges the space but also creates the impression of a larger, more expansive area. For an extra touch of color we added ochre but we limited ourselves to only a few colors so as not to visually overload the space.

Another very important element to take into account was the light, bringing liveliness and a sense of well-being to the entire space. Since it was all about a beauty salon, the lighting had to be special. Thus, we used specific lighting systems for each area. Depending on the space (diagnostic area, client pampering area, work area, manicure and pedicure area), the lighting was created in a manner that doesn’t distort the colors but improves the procedure as much as possible.

Therefore, for the Jovsky Salon we created an industrial design intertwined with the Feng Shui philosophy that implies balance. We achieved the coherence of the space by combining colors and by bringing into each area, in various shapes and shades, the five essential elements of life: wood, fire, earth, metal and water.

Tips and Ideas for Designing the Entrance Hall

Beyond its functional role, the entrance hall is the first space you come into contact with when you enter a house, the space that sets the tone for the entire home’s decor. A home will never inspire enough harmony if the entrance hall lacks personality and dynamism. The hall can also have a practical purpose, so if you choose the right furniture, the hall will become a place that will impress any guest. We would like to showcase some tips and ideas for arranging the entrance hall so that you can create an original decor.

Suitable color palettes

The color scheme of the hallway should be in harmony with the color scheme used in the rest of the home so as not to cause visual discomfort. Cool and warm shades should equally dominate, without abruptly switching from one tonality to another, and for an ideal color scheme, the primary colors should be supported by complementary ones.

In small spaces, we opt for color schemes in light shades: white, beige, light grays visually enlarge the space. The combination of an accent-colored wall, which is also present in other rooms of the house, and the remaining walls and ceiling painted in a light, neutral shade creates a visually pleasing color scheme. For larger hallways, you can opt for dark shades that also have the advantage of masking possible imperfections: a ceiling that is too high or wall distortions. The harmonious combination of shades in a color scheme gives the space a special atmosphere.

Furniture

The aesthetics of the hallway depend on several factors, including the size of the space and furniture elements, such as the shoe rack, coat hanger and key holder. The simplicity of the placement of furniture items is the key to a pleasant and elegant decor but also to the utility of the space. To give personality to the space, you can add decorative elements such as small rugs, a mirror, shelves, a vase of flowers or scented candles.

Lighting solutions

For a pleasant atmosphere, it is very important to choose the right lighting elements and the right spots to place them. Therefore, we recommend lamps placed on the walls (not on the ceiling), lanterns, sconces, lamps with semi-shades, chandeliers with variable light bulbs.

Hallway design ideas based on size and shape

Narrow hallways – these do not provide you with the proper brightness, but they offer you the advantage of placing narrow and closed furniture pieces where objects are in order and do not visually overload the space: shoe rack, hanger. To visually enlarge the space but also to illuminate it, you can place a mirror in front of a lighting fixture or in front of another room’s door.

Square hallways – in addition to the furniture items that we find in almost any hallway (hanger, shoe rack), you can arrange a coffee table, two armchairs and a bookshelf. To give personality and comfort to the space, you can beautify the atmosphere by placing indoor plants on shelves or directly on the floor, paintings, wall lamps and lighting fixtures.

Long hallways – in addition to the strictly necessary furniture, you can place shelves and bookcases for books or decorative objects. For a touch of elegance, you can choose furniture made of hardwood. Due to the space, closets can be added where you can store a multitude of items that you need as soon as you enter or leave the house.

High hallways – these allow you to choose a tall piece of furniture, close to the ceiling, with shelves. You can add extra personality to the space by placing flower pot stands, and you can put photos as well as paintings on the walls. To enhance this area, don’t forget to add the lighting elements.

Open space hallways – in this case, the decor should be seen as a cohesive whole. Opt for a simple arrangement that respects the color scheme of the living room. The hallway should still offer the functionality that the living room doesn’t provide with, so choose a wardrobe for winter clothes, a shoe rack and hangers.

The hallway is the calling card of a home. It must be functional, not overwhelming and, at the same time, in harmony with the rest of the house. Focus on the features of the hallway and take into account the size when choosing decorations and furniture. Don’t forget the color scheme, which must be in harmony with the rest of the house, but also the lighting solutions for a properly illuminated space.

Classic Style in Interior Design

Classical interior design suits any type of interior. Its main characteristics are balance, order and symmetry. In classical interior designs, natural materials and light colors predominate, and the furniture combines elements from various eras and styles (French, Victorian, Baroque). But let’s find out what you need to take into account when deciding to design a space in this style.

Color palette

The color palette used in classic style design is neutral and warm: white, beige, brown, yellow, gray. It’s important to limit the number of colors, with one serving as the dominant shade to maintain balance.

The walls can be painted in shades of white, beige or brown or they can be covered with a decorative wallpaper in neutral colors and a delicate pattern. Wooden flooring is a mandatory requirement for classic style design. The white ceiling decorated with cornices complements the entire setting. To fulfill the decor’s style, the furniture should be chosen in a predominantly dark color.

Choose the right materials, textures and shapes

The materials and textures used in classic style design should be natural – wood, leather, marble are just a few options. You won’t be able to achieve a classic style decor if you don’t opt for quality materials: hardwood such as birch, oak, mahogany, cherry, and walnut is used for furniture, while upholstery and curtains can be made from velvet, brocade, taffeta, or silk.

The furniture pieces are the elements that differentiate the classic style from other interior design styles. Solid wood furniture, with special finishes and combinations of straight lines with curved lines or carved elements, chairs upholstered in leather or textiles, wooden floors and rich curtains, with folds, waves and drapes are absolutely necessary requirements in this interior design style.

Balanced use of decorations

To decorate your home in a classic style, pay attention to accessories and ornaments, ensuring that decorative accents follow a cohesive color scheme. Decorative elements inspired by classics are large and imposing, bringing an extra touch of elegance and refinement to the room. Choose chandeliers, lamps, photo frames, candlesticks, vases and paintings, candles as decorative accents. For a story-filled atmosphere, add large mirrors, porcelain pieces, ceramics and massive paintings.

The classic style in interior design impresses with symmetry, balance and order, reflecting unique elegance. The colors are neutral, inspired by nature, the wooden floor and the massive furniture made of hardwood.

Single-Family House – 250 sqm, Dubai

The series of  “our work” articles continues. Today we chose to present you the home of a young couple with two little girls. The owners wanted their 250 sq m home organized on 2 levels, with an attic to be decorated in a modern and elegant way, with a few classic notes. Let’s see what came out!

The home has a well-thought-out layout with a traditional division of spaces – on the ground floor we find the living area, which consists of a living room, kitchen, dining room and a guest bathroom. On the first floor, the rest area includes a master bedroom with a dressing room and private bathroom, as well as a girls’ room featuring a bedroom, a playroom, and a private bathroom. In the attic we created a hobby area – it is a secondary kitchen where they gather and enjoy the generous terrace they have on the top floor.

The house offers a spacious, well-organized layout, complemented by large glass surfaces and exceptional natural light. Therefore, we chose to capitalize on these things by highlighting the various areas.

The kitchen is open to the dining and living area, a space that benefits from exceptional natural light and expansive glass surfaces. We tried to seamlessly integrate it into the ground floor layout, designing it as a cohesive and unified concept. In the kitchen area we chose profiled furniture for an extra touch of elegance, a special patterned tile and some metallic elements and copper accents meant to give improve the layout.

To visually separate the kitchen from the rest of the ground floor, we chose to create a bar for the breakfast area.

The living room and dining area are oriented towards the garden, benefiting from plenty of natural light. In the dining area we chose to combine modern and classic elements. Thus, we opted for a table with a wooden top, as well as for more industrial and copper metal chairs. The color spot on the ground floor is reflected by the sofa in a turquoise shade. As a texture we chose velvet in order to add extra elegance and comfort.

In the downstairs bathroom, we chose white, black, and gray hexagonal tiles, which we placed on both the wall and the floor, in combination with a shade of sunny yellow for the walls.

Since any successful design maintains continuity even when areas serve different purposes, we designed the rest area (the first floor) in a manner that naturally extends it from the ground floor.

The master bedroom is also designed in the same elegant tone that we approached regarding the master bedroom. We chose an upholstered bed, a Moroccan pattern wallpaper and lighting fixtures in tone with the wallpaper. We highlighted the entire space by using metallic accents and colors.

The girls’ room had to be special and unique since they were making the transition from an apartment to a house and that’s when they needed to find themselves in this room. We chose to decorate it in tones of pale pink and white without cluttering the space, creating a cozier atmosphere through excellent materials and textures.

A unique element in this design would be the epoxy resin which we used for the bathrooms in order to transform them into surprising spaces. For the girls’ bathroom, we chose a powdery pink epoxy resin floor that we highlighted by adding light beige 3D natural tiles. In the master bathroom, we chose a turquoise epoxy resin floor, a Moroccan pattern mosaic, pearl white and turquoise tones.

The home decor took a while to finish. The final result is modern, elegant, harmonious and functional, and will definitely last over time. We hope you were inspired by the ideas in this article!

Minimalist Studio Designed for Airbnb Rental

Furnishing and redecorating small spaces is a real challenge, especially when you want a simple and functional space, with a design that is interesting enough to attract tourists seeking short-term accommodation. The owners of the studio apartment that we will talk about in this article wanted a minimalist design with a few color accents. Let’s see what we obtained!

The bedroom
The central part of the entire studio is the bedroom. We opted for a simple and minimalist design, opting for a color palette of three colors: white, pastel pink and navy blue. On the wall behind the bed, we chose to blend white and pastel pink shades, creating a geometric pattern that extends onto the wall with the window. Opposite the bed is the TV area, where we painted the entire wall in a deep navy blue shade. For the wardrobe and bed, we used white, while for the TV chest of drawers and the mini bookcase next to it, we opted for a shade of beige. The painting above the bed and the striped carpet provide dynamism to the space, while the large mirror on the wardrobe door, strategically chosen, enhances the sense of space.
The kitchen
The kitchen was designed by the same stylistic principles as the bedroom – white and pastel pink, with natural accents. The appliances are built into the white furniture, additionally containing shelves and doorless cabinets in the color of wood. To continue the natural look, the work area (countertop) and table were also chosen in the shade of wood.
The bathroom
The bathroom maintains visual coherence with the kitchen, with a focus on the shower area, where we opted for turquoise tiles.
Therefore, a small and simple home, but pleasantly decorated and well-organized, always creates a warm and relaxing atmosphere. We hope we inspired you!

Design Ideas for Small Bathrooms

Most of the time, the space for a bathroom is very small, which makes a simple room design, a very difficult mission. How do you optimize the space in your bathroom so that it becomes a pleasant, airy and functional room? If you deal with a small bathroom and want to start the design or renovation process, we have prepared some ideas and tricks for inspiration.

Opt for light colors

Choose light colors to visually enlarge the room, preferably a combination of two neutral and bright shades (pastel yellow, green, light blue, gray). Even if it seems monotonous to have a maximum of two colors, you can enhance the space by bringing vibrant color to the bathroom through decorations – bath mat, colorful towels.

You can also opt for the same color on the walls, floor and ceiling, and for this situation white is the best choice. If you choose wall and floor tiles in the same shade, you’ll create a sense of continuity, making the space appear larger.

Play with textures

Remember: it is better to play with textures than with shades. For example, choose plain white tiles for the shower or bath area, and for the adjacent wall, opt for brick-effect tiles.

Another option is to choose mosaic instead of classic tiles. In addition to the fact that visually, the space will seem much more generous, mosaic can be installed in more difficult areas. Of course, there are other options – microcement – for a seamless bathroom, resistant over time and easy to maintain; fiberglass wallpaper.

Sanitary ware and furniture

Choose sanitary ware that suits the space – instead of a large bathtub that will take up half of your bathroom space, opt for a glass shower cabin – it will add elegance to the bathroom and visually enlarge it. Choose a corner washbasin specially designed for small bathrooms or a washbasin with a built-in cabinet.

Furniture should be chosen in the last phase of the arrangement because sanitary ware can reduce its size. Opt for suspended furniture to free up as much of the floor space as possible, a mirror cabinet and a few shelves above the toilet.

Make the most of all the available space – for example, the shower wall and the bathroom door remain unused so you can take advantage of that. All you need is an organizer with pockets or baskets that you can mount on the door or a support bar on the wall next to the shower where you can hang various baskets.

Light

A very important aspect is the bathroom’s lighting, especially if there is no window. In addition to the central lighting system, it is good to use enough spotlights near the mirror.

Choose the tips that suit your needs, adapt them to your preferences and enjoy a functional and optimized bathroom.

Urban Apartment with Bold and Accent Colors

Every house has its own unique aspects. Whether it’s the size of the rooms, the needs of the owners or the number of spaces, challenges for an architect always appear when it comes to designing a space. The design of this apartment started from a surface of 150sqm – the owners wanted a design with an open, bright space, an urban and modern environment, in intense colors, but with pieces meant to inspire industrial accents.

The Living Room

For the living room design, we started with parquet flooring and a dining table plus a coffee table featuring wooden tops. We opted for a TV composition with simple, geometric shapes, projected onto a wall finished with wallpaper featuring geometric patterns. The colors chosen for the living room were gray, blue and black. The blue accents in the wallpaper are in tune with the sofa’s blue shade, providing the room with a vibrant look.

The living room flows into the dining area, which features a wooden table and chairs in the same accent color—blue.

The Bedroom

If the living room was decorated with Scandinavian accents, for the bedroom the owners wanted a modern and elegant decor. For this room as well we opted for dark colors – black leather for the bed, brown textiles for the upholstered wall and, as a vibrant color, mustard yellow for the curtains, which are made of a material that integrates perfectly into this arrangement – velvet. The central element of the bedroom arrangement is the chandelier.

The dressing room

The second bedroom was transformed into a dressing room which was enhanced with open and compartmentalized furniture. We also opted for dark colors – pale black in combination with natural wood flooring.

The kitchen

The kitchen space was decorated in the same tone as the living room and dining area. The furniture that we chose reflects a simple, minimalist design, matte black MDF fronts, without handles, highlighted by the use of metallic wallpaper in the upper area of the worktop (purchased from Silver Decor). Black appliances, in tone with the furniture, can be built-in.

The hallway

For the hallway, we chose cement tiles to protect the access area and to create a contrast with the parquet in the living room. For the accent, we chose wooden furniture – in the same tone as the living room. Due to the lack of light, we chose to keep the walls white, but to accessorize them with black and white decorative 3D panels. As for the color accents, the owner chose paintings that give a special touch to the entire interior.

The bathroom

The bathroom design mostly consisted of using unique wallpaper for the wall finish instead of classic tiles, while for the floor the same cement tiles used in the hallway and kitchen.

After approximately 2 months of rearrangement, the result was a well-organized apartment and a visually harmonious environment; a modern decor, with both Nordic accents (living room tables, hallway furniture, chairs) and elegant elements – decorative profiles, cornices, chandelier (bedroom) Purchased from our friends at Silver Decor.

Everything You Need to Know About Decorative Stickers

One of the most convenient ideas to give a home a special touch is the use of decorative stickers. The most significant benefit of using decorative stickers is that, if they no longer satisfy your desires, you can remove them without leaving marks on the wall.

Home Library – Tips and Decorating Ideas

The library is an essential element of a home’s decor, providing balance, warmth and personality to the space. Beyond the books, which are the focal point of a library, you can arrange various decorative objects on the shelves. The library should seamlessly integrate into the overall decor and furniture of the home.

We know, books in stacks arranged on the floor give the room a bohemian air and a special charm, but it is not a model of a functional and airy space. Therefore, we are willing to show you some tips and ideas for arranging a library at home.

Where to place your library

If space allows, you can integrate a library into a specific room, where in addition to bookshelves you can arrange the entire space as a relaxation or work place. Another option for a library is the living room – you can arrange it on the window wall, behind the sofa or on a single wall (if space allows).

If you have an apartment with a long, narrow hallway, you can set up the library along one of its walls. This way, you make use of the space reserved for the purpose of moving between rooms, while adding personality to the area.

If you have a corner in your home that you think is difficult to furnish but still don’t want to leave it empty, you can opt for a corner shelf that matches the design of the entire room. The shelf will easily fit books, but you can also decorate it with photo frames, candles or flower pots.

Organizing Books

There are a variety of ways to organize the books in your library – alphabetically, by color, or if you want a minimalist decor, you can wrap your books in white or kraft paper to keep the color scheme in the room. But you also need to think about efficiency and not spending hours searching for the book you need. If you choose to organize your books alphabetically, it may look chaotic because there will be books of different sizes and colors. To simplify the process, organize your books by category and alphabetically. Books within the same category are often similar in size, making the arrangement easier. Thus, you can efficiently find the book you need.

Personalizing the bookcase

There are people who prefer a bookcase that is strictly meant for books, but there are also people, who would prefer to personalize their bookcase with decorative elements. So, for a modern look, you can add accent lights for the shelves – LED strips, recessed spotlights. If you want a minimalist library, opt for organic elements – add small pots with plants, stones and shells or fir cones to the shelves.

If you don’t have many books in your collection, you can play with their organization and at the same time personalize the bookcase – coherently decorate it; for example, arrange a few books vertically and next to them add a decoration, but on the next shelf arrange the books centrally, in a horizontal stack.

You can decorate the bookcase with small paintings, photo frames, colorful vases, candles, wooden decorations, vacation souvenirs. If space allows, you can place a comfortable chair or armchair in front of the bookcase in order to sit comfortably while reading or study.

The library is a source of inspiration and spiritual satisfaction, so pay attention when arranging it. Let your imagination take the lead when designing the library, but respect the main rules: order, balance and highlighting the value of the library through adequate lighting.
